The Homey-speaker approach didn't fix the real problem: a Chromecast drops out of Spotify's device list while idle, so playlists still can't start on it until it is picked in a Spotify app. Spotify Connect speakers, as first built, are simpler and show progress, shuffle and repeat for everything. Kept from the Homey-speaker version: the shuffle-off icon fix, the list spacing fix, the three-line status label, and hiding the progress bar when nothing is playing. New: the chosen speaker is remembered by name as well as id (found again under a new id), and when Spotify can't see it, the page says so by name and offers the speakers list; the playlist then starts on the speaker picked there. ESPanel turns an ESP32 touch display into a wall panel for your home. Put your lights, sockets, curtains and sensors on it as tiles, tap to switch them, hold one to see all its values, and browse your home room by room. Your Flows can use the display too, to show messages, ask questions or count down. You need an ESP32 display running the free openHASP firmware, for example the 4 inch Guition ESP32-S3-4848S040. ESPanel has its own MQTT server, so nothing else is needed: add the display under Devices and follow the steps on screen.
